"All models are wrong, but some are useful." George E. P. Box

We group procedures by the kind of question they answer: a mean under a distributional model, ranks when that model is a poor fit, counts in categories, latent factors from item covariances, systems of equations among those factors, or a check that is not itself the result. Psychology uses these names constantly. The arithmetic lives in software. The choice of model lives in the design.

This is a curated map for methods courses, not every procedure in statistics. Mixed models, Bayesian workflows, and power analysis are omitted on purpose. It is not a calculator and not advice for a specific study. Classroom examples use exam scores, reaction times, and self-report totals. They are not protocols. Article 001 walks an independent-samples t-test by hand.
